Responsibilities
Specifically, this position:
- Serves as the primary technical resource for environmental planning.
- Conducts land use pre-application meetings and provides environmental support.
- Reviews and evaluates development applications for environmental compliance.
- Conducts environmental assessments of project sites.
- Ensures compliance with permit conditions and land use codes.
- Manages environmentally impactful development cases.
- Investigates complaints regarding zoning and land use violations.
- Conducts studies on environmental and public health issues, and prepares assessment reports.
- Collaborates with various agencies and customers in the development review process.
- Reviews compliance monitoring reports for conformity with environmental rules.

We are looking for a candidate who will:
- Apply principles of environmental planning, natural resources, urban planning, and land use regulations.
- Facilitate group processes, meetings, negotiations, and conflict resolution.
- Implement relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
- Collect and analyze data and develop plans and reports with recommendations.
- Review development projects for environmental impact.
- Handle conflict situations effectively.
Qualifications
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Three (3) years of experience in environmental planning, natural resources management, ecology, or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education from an accredited college or university in urban planning, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, Ecology, or a related field is required.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, Ecology, or a related field preferred.
- Driver’s License required.

The typical schedule for this position is 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday – Friday.
